Why 'Ten Months in Germany' ?

Why? Well.. It was the amount of time I spent studying for my Year Abroad. I hope the blog is informative to you. I wrote it out of fun and I will be glad if it helps you know about the cities that I have visited. Do visit the contact section to follow my Instagram stories!

I would love to mostly thank the Erasmus Study Abroad Programme for allowing me to study in another European country and understand their culture. The programme also endorsed a scholarship sum that allows me to utilise it for my daily usage like food and student accommodation rent in Germany. I would want to also thank the two universities: University of Sheffield and Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen) for accepting me to go forward this passion of studying abroad and giving me a new experience of two different student lives. The paperwork for the programme was quite manageable thanks to the respective Erasmus tutor from each university. Overall, the adventure was beautiful. I met along of interesting people, I got to experiences the difference of cultures and humors. This encouraged me to write my experiences down as a blog.

   WHO AM I ?

To those that found this website, hi there! I am Rachel and I would like to share some of my experience as a former Erasmus student that have an opportunity to travel in and around Germany for 10 months. In this website, I will showcase my various trips to different towns and cities in Central Europe in that 10 months. I will also share some of my border trips that I took too. This includes France, Switzerland and Austria to say a few. The aim of this blog to to showcase some of the places to visit in the cities and will features underrated and cheap areas around it.

In 2019, I got the golden ticket to study in Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen ( a small university-city in Southern Germany) for two semesters and got to enjoy the student experience there (except for the later half of the semester due to the Covid outbreak). During school breaks, I would venture out of the small Tübingen town to other places and explore the true essence of central Europe. I have some small trips during the semesters and at least three big trips during breaks. The first big trip I took was the break in between the Winter semester in which I took the time to travel to Prague, via Flixbus from Tübingen, for three days and later to Berlin/Potsdam for two days and Nuremburg for another two days. The second was my trip to three Alsace-Lorraine cities; Strasbourg, Metz and Nancy, via flixbus, back to the German -France border city of Karlsruhe. The last would be my Austria trip which was planned after I finished my studies for the summer semester.
